History Of Salar Jung Museum :-

 Established in the year 1951 and located on the southern banks of river Musi in Hyderabad, the "Salar Jung Museum" is considered one of the old national museums in India. Salar Jung Museum is one of the largest museums in India spreading over a large area of 10 acres. Salar Jung Museum houses the meticulously curated collection of Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan ( Popularly known as Salar Jung III ). He collected antiques, art, rare manuscripts, paintings, etc., for 40 years until his death on 2nd March 1949.

Salar Jung III :-

Salar Jung III was born on 4th June 1889. He was appointed as prime minister of Hyderabad in 1912 by Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Nizam VII. He relinquished the post of Prime Minister on November 1914.

Salar Jung Museum :- 

The museum is of two floors, and the building is divided into 3 blocks, Central, Eastern, and Western. Almost all the collections in the museum were collected by Salar Jung III. Some of the most antique and rare pieces in the museum are,

1. A painting of Raja Ram Mohan Roy

2. Aurangzeb's Sword

3. Daggers of Shah Jahan

4. Jehangir and full Warddrobe of Tipu Sultan 

5. Musical Clock which consists of 350 parts and dates back to 19 century. It is one of the main attractions of the museum.

After my visit to the Salar Jung Museum, I felt that the museum should be the place that all Indians must visit at least once in their lifetime because the collections in the museum are a few prides of our country which has collections from all over the world and also rare antiques from all over India. I recommend people who visit the museum spend a whole day.

  6. Vignesh, it is very informative and to understand the wisdom of our ancient people. I also visited the place but I couldn't recollect what I saw. I would suggest try to give the other important places of India. This would be very useful information for the present younger generation. Wish you all the very best.
